Prime supplier terms

Prime supplier AI terms and each reported use

Large primes now write AI rules into their supplier terms. Map each AI use to the terms on your purchase orders.

What the published terms require

Lockheed Martin CorpDoc 2 (2026), section 20(e), limits using Lockheed Martin information with AI to what the contract requires, keeps export-controlled information out entirely, and lets Lockheed Martin request traceability of AI-generated content and evidence that your AI use follows the DoD Ethical AI Principles. Northrop Grumman CTM-P-ST-002 (May 2026), clause 22(M), bars training any AI system on its information and allows AI use only under set security and access conditions. L3Harris LGL-50.F1 (May 2026), article 17, requires written approval before AI is used on an order, an inventory of AI systems, flowdown to your suppliers and notice within 72 hours of an AI-related incident.

What that means for a subcontractor

Each prime writes its own rules, and they differ. One order may let your team use an approved business AI tool with limits. Another may require written approval first. A business subscription or a no-training setting does not settle the question on its own. The answer depends on the terms version on each purchase order and on what data each use touches.

Keep a record the prime can check

For each use, keep the use ID, the tool and plan, the data category, the purchase order terms that apply, the decision, any approval received and the responsible owner. When a prime asks for an AI inventory, traceability or an approval request, you can answer from that record in hours instead of weeks.
